I read through the book

Verdict: Um, needs work. Definitely!

Have a fantastic day.

I wrote this? Heh!

"Detective Dodson, you are going to continue to work with the evidence we have, you are going to investigate everything about John "The Amazinger John" Brooks, you will know him like he is your brother, your cousin, your lover. You will become John "The Amazinger John" Brooks. He is our main suspect, but he is also our best lead. Who wanted to frame John "The Amazinger John" Brooks? And why?"

Another one!

Bigger bang for your Uncle Buck.

It was supposed to be a name of a sketch. Surprisingly appropriate, actually.

Find-and-replace fun

So, one of my clown characters was named Uncle Buck. However, because I added Uncle after I had written Buck a few times, I did a find-and-replace to change every "buck" to "uncle buck."

So, every time buck shows up in the manuscript, it has uncle before it. Even if Buck is not a proper name. With hilarious results:

  • He gave her a sound, sexy kiss that made Maddy's knees Uncle Buckle.
  • "Food," he said, and handed Maddy a Uncle Bucket. "Original Recipe?"
  • Maddy brought the Uncle Bucket of chicken over and plopped down next to Michael.

I can't believe I wrote that:

Maddy was a bright shining beacon of love.

It won't be in the final version, don't worry.

Let the Editing begin

Well. I started to read my novel today.

Here are some things I noticed:

  • I should have either fewer sex scenes, or more stuff happen between the sex scenes
  • I should explain clowns more
  • I need a plot, and a new villain
  • My characters are too nice
  • It needs a lot of work
  • That said, it's not too bad
Going forward I plan to read the rest of the novel and then probably read it again, while taking notes.
